What Color Was Adam?
Re-adjusting Our Western World Caucasian Mindset.....
written in 05-2005 with some revision in 01-2008

Q. What color was Adam?

A. Genesis 2:7 – "And Yahweh Almighty formed man of the dust of the ground..." (Hint: What color is dust?)

Q. What about the Israelites? Were they Caucasian?

A. Lamentations 5:10 – "Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine." (Tip: When a light-skinned person goes without food, they get lighter / pale. When a dark-skinned person goes without food, they actually get darker.) Matthew 2:13-14 – "The messenger of Yahweh appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, ‘Arise and take the young child (Yahshua) and His mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word; for Herod will seek the young child, to destroy Him.’ When he arose, he took the young child and His mother by night, and departed into Egypt." (Hint: If Joseph and Mary had been the only Caucasians in Egypt, mightn’t it have been quite easy for them to be found?) Exodus 12:37-38 – "And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. And a mixed multitude went up also with them...." (This means that there were Egyptians, etc. mingled among the Israelites, who would have become one with them, intermarried with them, etc.) Genesis 42:7-8 – "And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them... And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew him not." (Tip: The Egyptians were a very dark people. Apparently Joseph wasn’t light, or he would have stood out as extremely different, and his brothers would have guessed who he was.) Genesis 41:45, 50-52 – "And Pharoah called Joseph’s name ‘Zaphenath-Paneah’, and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On... And unto Joseph were born two sons, before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, bare unto him. And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh... and the name of the second called he Ephraim..." (Hint: Two tribes of Israel, i.e. Ephraim and Manasseh, were birthed by an Egyptian mother.)

Q. What color was Moses’ wife?

A. Numbers 12:1 – "And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses, because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married, for he had taken an Ethiopian woman." (Hint: The Ethiopians are a dark-skinned people, probably even darker than the Israelites.)

Q. What did Miriam get for looking down on someone with darker skin than her?

A. Numbers 12:10 – "And the cloud departed from off the tabernacles, and behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow; and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and behold, she was leprous." Yahweh in effect said, "You think you are better than the Ethiopian woman just because your skin is lighter. Very well then, I’ll make you even lighter. Do you like that?"

Q. So then, does Yahweh have a problem with people of different skin colors marrying each other? (This one is for you to answer yourself.)

Q. How about Ruth? She was an ancestor of Yahshua. What color was she?

A. Ruth 1:4 – "And [the sons of Naomi] took them wives of the women of Moab: the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth...." (Hint: The Moabites were not Caucasians.)

Q. Who would you rather associate with: the slave owner or the slave? Song of Songs 1:5-6 gives us an example of the slave – "I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. Look not upon me because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me; my mother’s children were angry with me, they made me the keeper of the vineyards; mine own vineyard have I not kept." So would you rather associate with this person, or with the socially accepted slave owners? Another verse for thought is Proverbs 16:19 – "Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the strong."

Q. What color was the believer who worshiped in Jerusalem, as recorded in Acts 8:27?

A. "... behold, a man of Ethiopia, a believer of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship..."

Q. Does skin color matter to Yahweh?

A. Malachi 2:10 – "Have we not all one father (i.e. Adam... Remember what color he was?)? Hath not one Mighty One created us? Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?"

Q. What covenant are you profaning when you have negative feelings towards those with a different skin color than you?

A. Leviticus 19:18 – "... thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am Yahweh." Romans 12:9-10 – "Let love be genuine: abhor that which is evil, cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affections one to another with brotherly love, in honor preferring one another." Exodus 23:9 – "Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the soul of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt."

Q. Is showing partiality acceptable with Yahweh?

A. James 2:1, 8-9 – "My brethren, have not the faith of our Master Yahshua Messiah of esteem, with respect of persons. If ye fulfil the royal Law, according to the Scripture, ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself,’ ye do well. But if ye have respect of persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the Law as transgressors." Deuteronomy 1:16-17 – "Judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger with him. Ye shall not respect persons (or acknowledge faces) in judgment..." Acts 10:34-35 – "Yahweh is no respecter of persons, but in every nation, he that feareth Him and worketh righteousness is accepted with Him."

Q, Are you judging righteously, or according to the appearance? In Deuteronomy 1:16 Yahweh instructs us to: "Judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger with him." Again in John 7:24 Yahshua says, "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." In 1 Samuel 16:7 we read that: "Man looketh on the outward appearance, but Yahweh looketh on the heart."

Q. Are any nations excluded from the promise in Genesis 22:17-18?

A. "In blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore, and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. And in thy seed (i.e. Yahshua) shall all the nations of the earth be mixed (made one; united), because thou hast obeyed My voice."

Q. Get a box of crayons and find the color that matches your skin the closest. What color are you?

Q. Can one discriminate against a certain color of people, and still love Yahweh?

A. 1 John 2:9-11 – "He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes." 1 John 3:14-15 – "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren; he that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer, and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." 1 John 4:8, 20-21 – "He that loveth not knoweth not Yahweh; for Yahweh is love. If a man say, ‘I love Elohim’ and hateth his brother, he is a liar. For he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love Yahweh whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from Him, that he who loveth Yahweh love his brother also." (It’s not enough to not hate your brother; you must love your brother as yourself.)

Q. How many races are there?

A. Acts 17:26-28 – "And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation: that they should seek Yahweh, if haply they might feel after Him and find Him, though He be not far from every one of us. For in Him we live, and move, and have our being, as certain also of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’ " Genesis 1:26-27 – "And Yahweh said (to Yahshua), ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness...’ So Yahweh created man in His own image, in the image of Yahweh created He him, male and female created He them."
