Shalom and Welcome to Joy In The World,
the online home of the Coover Family!
We are Dad (Matthew), Mom (Lindsey), & children, Caleb, Abigail, Benyamin, Shoshanna, Ruthannah, Ethan, Naomie & Noah: an entire-Bible believing, homeschooling family of 10!
This website is our attempt at online outreach and ministry. I began this website when I was 12 years old as a homeschooling project, and it slowly progressed into what it is today. It's been a bit neglected the last 10 years or so, but here you can find our betrothal story, as well as articles and books we've authored. I don't have near as much time to write today as I had 20 years ago, but we're trying to refocus our priorities and restructure our workload in hopes that more time can be invested in this direction, so please check back periodically.
For those who are curious, we share many of the same ideals as the Annabaptists (Mennonites and Amish), coupled with a focus on conservative Judeo-Christian values and the Hebrew origins of our faith in Yahshua the Messiah. Some might call us "Hebrew Roots" or "Messianics" or "Jewish Christians", but we don't really care to ascribe any particular religious title. This website used to support and refer viewers to a congregation in Maine which we were a part of, but we haven't been members of any particular congregation since the autumn of 2017 (see "
Why We & Other Families Left Mid-Maine Messianic Fellowship"). Since then, we have just been a family who is part of a greater fellowship, working through a healing process and documenting that journey along the way, as we seek the plans which Yahweh, our Heavenly Father, has in store for us.
Our desire is still to bridge the gap for those who embrace the ideals of the anabaptist movement of the 1600s while upholding the true teachings of Yahshua (Yeshua/Jesus) the Messiah interpreted in their historical context of the Torah (5 books of Moses), and if you visit or fellowship with us, you will notice that we endeavor to dress modestly, live simply, baptise by immersion, keep the 7th Day Sabbath and Feasts of Leviticus 23, and home educate our children. We realize that all of these things are deemed counter-cultural in Western society, and we don't believe our voluntarily exercise of these things is a prerequisite of our salvation. Instead, they are just expressions of our natural heartfelt response to the salvation which Messiah Yahshua already extended to us.
We'd love for you to explore our website, which we pray will help other parents procure righteous families with a vision for the generations to come, as opposed to what's immediately the easiest for us. We also welcome you to
contact us, especially if you are seeking fellowship near either New England, the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas, or the Florida Panhandle, as we seasonally travel and homestead between these locations.
